Dambulla er nok mest kendt for to ting, nemlig Sri Lankas bedst bevarede hule tempel (Royal Rock Temple\/Dambulla Cave Temple\/Golden Temple of Dambulla) og et ber&oslash;mt cricket stadion.<\/p>\n<p>The Golden Temple, som ligger i den centrale provins, kom i 1991 p&aring; (UNESCOs Verdensarvsliste). I omr&aring;det findes 80 huler, og bag The Golden Temple ligger de fem vigtigste huler. I de fem huler er der ikke mindre end 153 Buddha statuer, 3 statuer af Sri Lankanske konger og 4 statuer af guder og gudinder, hvoraf de to er Hindu guderne Visnu og Ganesh. Udover statuer indeholder hulerne v&aelig;gmalerier, som str&aelig;kker sig over 2.100 m2, og relaterer til Buddha.
